Surfing at Whitsand
With four uninterrupted miles of golden beach, Whitsand Bay is one of the longest beaches in the South West, and has plenty of peaks for beginner and intermediate surfers in Cornwall to choose from. At low tide, Tregantle, Tregonhawke and Sharrow all appear.
But at high tide Whitsand Bay fragments into a series of smaller bays, providing shelter from powerful westerlies, but creating crowds in the race for waves.
Whitsand Bay needs a solid southwest to west swell for good break power, and it is recommended that you venture east if you want the biggest swell the bay can offer.
